Spain Holidays: Why You Should Travel Off-Season

Spain has always been a mass tourism destination. Every year, millions of tourists from Great Britain, German, France and the USA invade the Spanish “Costas” (Blanca, Brava) and islands (Tenerife, Ibiza, Majorca). They are attracted by the sunny weather, beautiful beaches and lively nightlife. While this is the embodiment of the great summer Spain holidays, it can be a nightmare for others who want to discover the real Spain. When it comes to Spanish holidays on the mainland, you will have plenty of choice. If sunning yourself on the beach is an appealing thought to you then the sparkling Costa’s are your best place to head.

Benidorm has a magnificent beach that is well worth a view. If you more into absorbing the culture then think about heading in one of Spain’s fascinating cities. If you are flexible with your holiday arrangements, one of the best ways to experience Spain is to travel off-season, between the months of September and May. With fewer tourists around, you will have more opportunities to mingle with the locals and discover the country at your own pace. You will enjoy a nicer weather by escaping the balmy temperatures of July and August. The moderate solar activity in the spring and late fall also makes it much safer to be in the sun. You will be able to perfect that tan and take long walks on deserted beaches without getting worried of sun burns or overheating afterwards.

Travelling off season is also the best way to enjoy cheap Spain holidays. Hotel prices of popular seaside resorts on the Costa Blanca or Costa Brava are subject to strong seasonal variations. Prices begin to rise in late May to early June, peak in early August and gradually decline from late September – early October. So by planning your vacation during the off season, you can easily save 30-40% on you next accommodation. Airfares also get a lot cheaper which leaves you with more pocket money to spend while on holiday. Holidays in Spain were popular in the UK around the 1960s when we hit the market with ‘package holidays’ and they still prove to be a hit even today! The sheer range of Spanish holiday destinations, all feature a hot Mediterranean climate with plenty to do. This means that the choices available for families, couples and solo travelers are timeless.

The sun-baked Balearic and Canary islands offer the best selection of beach holiday resorts and plenty of water sports. So whatever you are in to Spain will always have something on offer.
